The Iron Horse Music Hall storefront on Center Street in Northampton on an overcast summer afternoon. A red-brick four-story commercial building with double-hung white-trimmed windows on the upper floors and several through-the-wall air conditioners, a continuous grey awning running across the ground floor, and a small painted sign over the central glass entry door reading 'Iron Horse Music Hall' beside a yellow musical-note logo, flanking display windows filled with concert posters and flyers, an empty white-painted glass storefront on the right, a grey minivan and a black sedan parked head-in at metered spaces along the curb, and a sliver of green street tree visible above the right end of the building.

The Iron Horse has been a fixture of the downtown Northampton music scene for decades, booking folk, jazz, indie, and roots acts in an intimate room at 18 Center Street. It’s one of a handful of Pioneer Valley venues where touring musicians regularly stop between Boston and New York.

After a period of uncertainty, the Parlor Room Collective, a local non-profit 501(c)(3) that also runs the nearby Parlor Room, bought the Iron Horse in September 2023 and reopened it in May 2024 after eight months of renovation. The booking has returned to the club’s usual mix of songwriters, small touring acts, and Valley stalwarts. The box office at (413) 200-0425 opens 2:30–4:00pm on show days.

See the upcoming shows page for the current calendar.
