The Springfield Museums, known locally as The Quadrangle, are five museums arranged around a shared courtyard at State and Chestnut Streets in downtown Springfield. A single admission ticket covers entry to all five.
- Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts: European and American painting, sculpture, and decorative arts.
- George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum: Asian art, American decorative arts, and the original Smith collection.
- Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History: the city’s manufacturing and cultural history, including the Indian Motocycle collection.
- Springfield Science Museum: a planetarium, a dinosaur hall, and hands-on exhibits; one of the oldest science museums in New England.
- Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum: added to the Quadrangle in 2017, in a dedicated building next to the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden.
The Sculpture Garden
The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden occupies the center of the courtyard. It holds bronze sculptures of Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel (a Springfield native) and his characters, cast at life size by his stepdaughter Lark Grey Dimond-Cazalet. The garden is free and open during museum hours.
