Atkins has been a Pioneer Valley fixture since 1962, at 1150 West Street in South Amherst. The market runs a full bakery (the cider donuts are what most people come for) alongside a deli, pizza shop, produce department, and a small beer-and-wine selection. A gift shop and seasonal ice-cream window round it out.

Store hours are 7am–7pm daily.

In the fall, the orchard opens for pick-your-own apples across a long list of varieties (McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Macoun, Mutsu, Spy), and the parking lot fills with families making a day of it. Call ahead on weekends in late September and October, and check the pick-your-own page for the current picking schedule.
