Robinson State Park occupies roughly 1,025 acres of mixed pine and oak forest along the north bank of the Westfield River in Agawam, at the southern end of the valley. It’s the largest DCR state park within a fifteen-minute drive of downtown Springfield, and the closest thing the south valley has to a Norwottuck- or Mount Tom-scale everyday outdoor destination.
The park is named for John C. Robinson, a Springfield businessman who donated the original land in 1934.

- Trails: more than 20 miles of interconnected paths. Most are flat and well-packed; a few climb the low bluffs above the river.
- Picnic pavilions: several grove-style shelters near the main entrance, first-come basis.
- Winter use: the main trails are plowed at the road crossings; the interior is ungroomed but skiable after fresh snow.
What to know
